Chronometrik brand Viscosity index improvers are specially formulated for use in multigrade engine oils, gear oils, automatic transmission fluids, power-steering fluids, greases, and hydraulic fluids. These VIIS additives are high molecular weight, long chain, polymeric molecules that are sensitive to temperature and as temperature increases, these molecular chains tend to stretch out. This causes the base fluid’s internal friction to increase, thereby causing the fluid to flow at a slower rate. At the same time, they are formulated to have minimal contribution to viscosity at lower temperatures.
